TAMPA, Fla. -- Fifth graders from Tinker Elementary School and some other elementary students got a hands-on lesson in learning Wednesday when they visited MacDill Air Force Base. They got the opportunity to experience what their parents go through during the deployment process.

Tinker is located at the base and most of its students have a connection to the military.

The purpose of CARE -- Contingency and Readiness Education -- is to help ease the stress and fear associated with a deployment and allow children to see the support they and their parents receive during these changing times.

The kids experienced the four phases of deployment, from the initial recall to the reintegration.
