PUNTA GORDA, Florida -- Charlotte County sheriff's deputies have located a missing Tampa woman in Punta Gorda.
Ellen Anne Quinlan, 27, had been missing since last week.
On Sunday night she was spotted near a Punta Gorda mobile home park called the Lazy Lagoon. Several residents described borderline bizarre behavior from Quinlan as she made her way through the area and into the woods.
A sheriff's helicopter with special heat-seeking equipment located her nearby, in very thick brush. Authorities had to cut a path just to reach Quinlan.
Quinlan is now recovering at Charlotte Medical Center.
Her family tells investigators Quinlan has no ties to Charlotte County and they're not sure why she would drive down there. They last saw her Thursday night, when she left her cell phone at their house. They did say she had not taken some needed medication in about a week.
