Child drowns at Pass-A-Grille Beach

Pass-A-Grille, Florida -- Police say a 7-year-old boy drowned in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday.

It happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday off the 1900 block of Gulf Way on Pass-A-Grille Beach.

Police say the child was found face down in the water. A teen certified in CPR tried to revive the boy until emergency responders arrived.

The child was taken to the hospital, but did not survive.

The boy's name has not been released because police trying to notify his father. Police say the child lived in St. Petersburg.

Last week a 41-year-old woman from Alabama drowned of St. Pete Beach in the wake of Tropical Storm Debby.
