KANSAS CITY, MO -- Rays starting pitcher David Price was passed over to start Tuesday night's MLB All-Star Game by Detroit's Justin Verlander.

American Laegue Manager Ron Washington said Price was in consideration, but the Rays changed his mind by saying they only wanted Price to just pitch one inning.

Price disagreed with that statement saying the Rays were fine with him working two innings if he was the starter, but preferred he only work one in relief.

Price is scheduled to pitch Tuesday night in the All Star game, but Washington says the use of the rest of his pitching staff will depend on the game situation.

Price's next scheduled start will be on Saturday at Tropicana Field against the Red Sox.
