LONGBOAT KEY, Florida (AP) - Police say a tourist from Georgia has drowned off the coast of southwest Florida.
Jacqueline Landaverde of Snellville, Ga., was visiting Longboat Key with her husband, three children and a church group.
Police say a bystander pulled Landaverde to shore Wednesday after hearing her 12-year-old daughter cry out for help.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that the girl told police that Landaverde was not a good swimmer and appeared to struggle as the current took her too far from shore.
Landaverde later died at a Sarasota hospital.
