Come on by the Franklin Templeton building at 100 Fountain Drive in Carillon today from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.. You'll see the school buses parked out front to collect your generous donations.

The donated supplies will be donated to Pinellas County Council PTAs and Suncoast Voices for Children which will then distribute the supplies to needy children in our area.

Consider the importance of school supplies drives like this...1 in 5 children in Pinellas County live in poverty, 2,000 are in the foster care system, and more than 2,100 are experiencing homelessness.

The National Retail Federation estimates the average family will spend $95.44 on basic school supplies like pencils, paper, backpacks and glue sticks. Factor in clothing and electronics, the average spending per child K-12 is expected to be $688.62.

It's a lot of money!

So, help out today if you can.
