Sarasota, Florida -- A man who thought he got away with a crime, was literally stopped in his tracks after the phone he stole led police right to him.
The owner of the phone was alerted by a patrolling sergeant who noticed his car window had been smashed in in the 800 block of Blackburn Point Road. It was then he realized his phone had been stolen out of the car.
A responding deputy activated the "Find my iPhone" app on his iPhone and they were able to track the phone to an apartment complex near Ashton Way. Deputies followed a car making the same movements shown on the app and when they pulled it over, they found a hammer with glass shards on it along with the phone in John Mulier's possession. Also found was marijuana and other drug related items.
Mulier was charged with Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Grand Theft, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Narcotic Equipment.
