TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Republican Congressman Allen West says the Democratic Party is the most racist ever and no one's calling them out on it.

West addressed a luncheon Wednesday to recognize black Republicans in conjunction with the party's national convention.

He said that Democrats attack black Republicans and the media doesn't pay attention.

He then turned to the two reporters and said, "That's the most racist party I've ever seen in my life and you don't call them out."

Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll also addressed the group and urged the attendees to spread the word that Republican values are the same as the black community's.

West represents a Broward and Palm Beach county district, but is running for re-election in a Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie county district.
