Lakeland, Florida - A 42-year-old Lakeland woman faces child abuse charges after investigators say she locked a 4-year-old boy that was in her care inside a cabinet for several hours.

The child told Polk County deputies he had to urinate and defecate all over himself and was bitten by roaches and spiders.
Detectives would not disclose the relationship between Lori Hamilton and the alleged victim, nor would they say where it happened, in hopes of protecting the child's identity.
Friday afternoon Hamilton remained in jail, but her family says there's no way she could have committed the crimes.
"I don't believe it because the girl has not a bad bone in her body," said her sister, Wanda Hawthorne.
The child told deputies the abuse happened "frequently."
An arrest report states Hamilton admitted to doing it four times.
Her sister said she only did that because she was tired of being questioned by detectives.
"They sat and talked to her for a couple of hours yesterday and I guess she finally broke down and said ok whatever, I did it," Hawthorne said.
Deputies say Hamilton also had several other children in her care and they too may have been abused.
"We're certainly looking at any other options that may have been out there for any other victimization," said Donna Wood with the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say the 4-year-old victim has been removed from the situation.
Hamilton was recently Baker Acted for mental illness.
10 News asked her sister if she is mentally stable enough to take care of kids.
"Honestly not by herself, no," Hawthorne said.
Deputies say they're not aware of any prior criminal history for Hamilton.
