Tampa, Florida -- A verbal argument between two men in Ybor City early Friday morning ended when one man stabbed the other in the face.
It was shortly after 1 a.m. when 80-year-old Eishman Mayweather and 48-year-old John Samuel Polite began arguing in a room at the Eight Ball Rooming House in Ybor City, police say.
Polite reportedly followed Mayweather into his room, and refused to leave when asked.
"The victim told the defendant that if he wanted him out of his room, the defendant had to put him out," states a report on the incident.
That's when police say Mayweather went and got a knife. Polite left, but returned shortly for a second argument, which turned violent when Polite punched Mayweather in the face.
During the violent scuffle, Mayweather reportedly stabbed Polite several times with the knife to get him off of him- striking him under his left eye, under his lip, on the left side by his abdomen and on his left bicep, reports say.
Police took Mayweather into custody, and Polite was transported to Tampa General Hospital for his non-life-threatening injuries.
