Miami-Dade fugitive accused of attempted murder on law enforcement arrested in Pinellas County

Safety Harbor, Florida -- Deputies say a man wanted for attempted murder out of Miami-Dade County was arrested in Pinellas Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Andy Roman, was apprehended on McMullen-Booth Road and Crest Drive Wednesday afternoon.  

Authorities tell 10 News Roman was wanted for five counts of a attempted murder on a law enforcement officer by the Hialeah Police Department. 

The Hialeah Police Department says on Saturday, Sept. 22, Roman deliberately shot at officers while they were investigating an earlier shooting at a Hialeah motel. 

Officers say Roman was riding in a car, driven by Osmani Ojeda, as police pursued them into Miami where they ditched the car and ran into a residential area. During the pursuit, Roman and Ojeda repeatedly shot at the officers with an AK-47 type assault rifle and a sub-machine gun.

Ojeda was captured during the incident.
