Tampa, Florida - State officials announced on Friday, October 20 will from now on be known as "Lee Roy Selmon Day" to honor the former Tampa Bay Buc and community icon.
October 20 is Selmon's birthday.
The day was announced at One Buc Place in Tampa.
To celebrate, Lee Roy Selmon's Restaurants will donate a portion of proceeds to USF's mentoring program, Mentoring U Selmon Style, which mentors USF student athletes.
Lee Roy Selmon passed away last year after suffering a stroke.
He was the Bucs first Hall of Famer, helped build USF's football team, and was a dedicated philanthropist.
