New Port Richey, Florida -- A student at River Ridge Middle School was arrested Tuesday after police say he punched a teacher in the face.
Pasco County deputies say the 13-year-old boy refused to follow a verbal direction from Shari Yarber and Behavior Specialist Ed Meyer. He then reportedly threatened the stab both of them with a pencil and, as Meyer was calling for help, punched Yarber on the right side of her face.
Yarber suffered redness and swelling and told deputies she also now has a cracked tooth.
The student is currently on felony probation and is not eligible for Youth Diversion. He has been charged with Battery on a School Official.
