Odessa, Florida -- An Odessa man, who was part of a drug trafficking operation from Mexico, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison Tuesday.
Federal court documents from early 2008 through July 2011, revealed the operation brought in from Mexico pound quantities of methamphetamine and transported through Texas to Georgia.
From there, it was sent by couriers, several times a week, to distributors in central Florida for further distribution. It is estimated they distributed more than 2,500 pounds of methamphetamine in central Florida over a 3-year period.
William Shaw was the last of 20 others sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan Bucklew for their participation in the operation. Twelve of the 20 are not U.S. citizens and have significant ties to Michoacan, Mexico.
Shaw, 43, pleaded guilty on March 29 on charges of participating in a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
