Dade City, Florida -- WWE Wrestling Star John Cena was on hand to help present a custom wheelchair to a local 9-year-old boy at his Dade City school Tuesday.
The WWE John Cena-themed custom powered wheelchair was donated to Gary Patterson at his school, Centennial Elementary, by the Darrell Gwynn Foundation's Wheelchair Donation Program. The foundation's mission is to provide support for people with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injury.
Gary needed the power wheelchair because he was not able to propel himself manually and after Medicaid denied his claim, the foundation stepped in to help.
Reportedly Gary is a huge fan of Cena's and his teacher, Julian Kornick, arranged for Cena to appear at the presentation and surprise Gary.
The donation is part of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation's Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week (SCIAW) campaign in Florida.
