Durant, Fl - The Durant Cougars, a team looking for a state championship and some respect, advanced on both areas, with a 34-7 second round playoff victory over the Tampa Bay Tech Titans.

The Cougars hadn't won a playoff game since 2003, but now have won two in a row, and are a perfect 12-0 for the season.

Using a mix of pass and run, Durant scored early and never looked back.   Quarterback Trey VanDeGrift put the Cougars on the board with a one-yard run, set up by Terry Grimsley's interception which gave the Cougars great field position.

On Durant's next possession, VanDeGrift connected with Cory Roberts for a 12-yard touchdown, and the Cougars were rolling.

Chris Atkins, Zach Hooper and Jamarlon Hamilton each added a rushing score.

The Titans actually out gained the Cougars 407 to 347 in passing and rushing yardage, but Durant's defense used the bend but don't break  model, making stops and forcing turnovers at key points in the game, holding Tampa Bay Tech to only one score.

Durant will now host Newsome in a rematch of their regular season game, won by Durant 38-28 on October 18.   In that game, the Wolves also out gained the Courgars in rushing and passing yards.  But Durant jumped on the scoreboard early, taking a 31-7 lead, they would never relinquish.
