Sarasota, Florida -- Remember the massive pileup on I-75 back in October?
The Florida Highway Patrol has completed their investigation and they believe drivers and bad weather are to blame for the 53-car pileup near the Sarasota-Manatee County line.
Troopers say in all, there were 21 crashes on I-75 at University Parkway. A total of 52 people were hurt, and 22 of those men and women had to be taken to the hospital. Miraculously, nobody was killed.
Eighteen drivers were cited for the massive mess, though their names have not yet been released.
Florida ranks second in the country for rain-related crashes.
