Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough County investigators have identified the body of the person found burned to death outside a home overnight Sunday as Quang-Nhut Duong.
Deputies arrived at the home in the 7000 block of Hollowell Drive around 1:37 a.m. Monday after a neighbor called 911 and reported seeing two fires and thought they heard someone screaming. When they arrived, they found a gas can on fire at the home and a charred body in the grass across the street.
After a preliminary investigation, detectives say Duong's cause of death was thermal inhalation injury. He also suffered thermal burns over 98% of his skin. They say the nature of his injuries indicates Duong committed suicide by setting himself on fire, also referred to as self-immolation.
