MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Florida  - A member of the 6th Air Mobility Wing was killed Monday when an air refueling boom fell, hitting her in the torso.

Authorities say 29-year-old Staff Sgt. Emily Elizabeth Clayburn of Palatine Bridge, N.Y., was killed about 4:30 p.m. on Monday at the base.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner list the cause of death as blunt trauma.

Air refueling booms reportedly weigh over 2-thousand pounds.

Col. Scott DeThomas who commands the 6th Air Mobility Wing says Clayburn will be missed by everyone in the wing and all who had the chance to serve with her.
