ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- A dog was taken to a local animal hospital with a gunshot wound after an officer was forced to fire upon it Saturday.
According to St. Petersburg Police, a neighbor saw a person being bit by an aggressive German Shepard that had gotten loose and complained to police. The person bit was able to get away.
When officers arrived, they attempted to subdue the dog and get it back in its yard, but they say it was too aggressive and continuously charged at the officers. One fired a shot and struck the dog. It was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
