Largo, Florida -- A scene reminiscent of the game Grand Theft Auto unraveled early Friday morning as a woman put up quite the fight to get away from officers in a stolen vehicle.
Largo Police say an officer patrolling the area near the Brittany Bay Apartment complex on Seminole Boulevard noticed a vehicle pull into the Super AM convenience store around 12:45 a.m. When he checked the tag, he discovered it was stolen.
As the man and woman, who were in the vehicle, came out of the store, the officer approached the man.
When he did, the woman, identified as Jamie Ramseur, ran to the vehicle and jumped in the driver's seat. As the officer tried to grab the keys to turn off the engine, Ramseur, bit his arm.
She then backed up and hit a dumpster, a potted plant and another vehicle with two people inside, all with the officer still holding on to the vehicle. While trying to flee, Ramseur ran over the officer's lower leg causing him to fall back and hit his head.
The injured officer radioed for backup and Ramseur fled the scene.
Two responding officers spotted the vehicle in the area of Seminole Boulevard and 5th Avenue SW. The officers followed Ramseur who pulled into a residential area and parked between two vehicles.
As one of the officers approached her, and tried to get her out of the vehicle, he was thrown back between the two vehicles and Ramseur again fled the scene.
She didn't get very far though, because she crashed in the front yard of a residence a short distance away. The chase then started on foot.
Ramseur got away for a bit until a K-9 unit tracked her to her hiding place behind some trees in the back yard of a home about a quarter of a mile away.
Ramseur, 27, was arrested and faces numerous charges including attempted felony murder of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence felony hit and run with injuries, fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of crack cocaine, grand theft, resisting without violence, felony hit and run with property damage and reckless driving.
Largo Police are still looking for the man that got away.
