Tampa, Florida -- A family may have lost their home to a fire Monday morning but thanks to their daughter and sibling, they got away with their lives.
Tampa Fire officials say around 8 a.m., as the girl got back to her house in the 1600 block of Poinsetta Avenue from dropping off her brother at his bus stop, she noticed her bedroom was on fire. She ran in and woke up the rest of the family so everyone could get out safely.
Fire investigators say the cause of the fire was children playing with matches.
The local chapter of The American Red Cross is working with the family to find them a place to stay.
