Lakeland, Florida-- Lakeland Police say they arrested a man Saturday after a young victim and her mother reported he had sexually assaulted the girl that same day. 

Preliminary reports don't include much information, but it appears James Dixon, Jr., 36, knew the girl that he targeted on February 23. 

Information collected during an interview with Dixon at the Lakeland Police Department resulted in him being taken to the Polk County Jail, where he was charged with three counts of Lewd battery on a Child Under 16.

According to officials, Dixon was still behind bars the following Monday.
