Christopher Sharp a local Pizza Hut employee, has been charged with impersonating an officer after putting on an elaborate act that lasted months.
Hernando County, Florida -- Christopher Sharp was just a local Pizza Hut employee- who frequently impersonated a Pasco County deputy, officials said Tuesday.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Department, Sharps's time pretending to be a deputy lasted from August of 2012, to January of 2013- the same length of time he was in a relationship with Randi Merril.
When detectives interviewed Sharp, a Hernando county resident, he said he did this to impress his girlfriend.
Sharp would come home "from work" wearing his Pasco County Sheriff's Office uniform, telling stories to Merril, her family, and friends about what had occurred during his "shift." He even went so far as to provide legal advice to people regarding child custody matters, avoiding a DUI arrest, and traffic citations, reports say.

In addition to sharing stories and legal advice with Merill and her family, reports say Sharp spoke with patrons at the bar where Merill worked, and even carried on his act at a New Year's Eve party.
Sharp reportedly arrived to the party wearing a Pasco County Deputy Sheriff uniform and told guests stories about DUIs he'd given prior to arriving.
After an investigation, it was revealed that Sharp worked at Pizza Hut and he stole the Deputy Sheriff uniform from his sister's boyfriend, who is a real Pasco County Deputy Sheriff.
Reports indicate Sharp would stop on his way home from Pizza Hut and change into the deputy shirt and badge, along with a pair of army pants.
Sharp told officials he knew what he was doing was wrong, and also admitted that he previously tried to get hired by Hillsborough County, but was not selected to be sponsored.
Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis says this is a clear example of why Sharp was not hired in the first place.
"Here is a shining example of someone who makes extremely poor decisions and will, consequently, not make it through any future law enforcement background investigation."
Sharp told detectives that he never pretended to be a deputy outside the realm of family and friends, and that he never attempted to pull anyone over, or make any citizen contacts.
While one witness claims to have seen a gun, Sharp denies ever having one.
Sharp was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
