Video: Miles found guilty of murder, sentenced to life in jail

Brooksville, Florida -- Brittany Miles, the former exotic dancer accused of killing a motorcyclist in Brooksville in 2011, will spend the rest of her life behind bars.

A jury convicted Miles on Thursday of first degree murder, which prosecutors say comes with a mandatory life sentence.

In May of 2011, Miles hit and killed motorcyclist Henry McCain while trying to elude authorities.

She has already been convicted of battery on a law enforcement officer in Pasco County as part of the same crime spree.

The whole series of events began May 11, 2011 after deputies got a phone call from a concerned citizen who spotted a driver driving a red pick up truck recklessly and erratically.

About 10 minutes later, Deputy Ashley Grady found the vehicle and pulled over the driver, Brittany Miles.

According to the arrest report, Miles was handcuffed and in the back seat of the deputy's cruiser when she somehow managed to get out of one cuff. She then was able to hop out of the cruiser and then back into her truck.

"The deputy tried to stop her by reaching inside the driver's side window, however the driver tore off across US 19," explained Pasco Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll told 10 News at the time.

Deputy Judd suffered a fractured leg, head contusions and a broken ankle as she was dragged by Miles.

Another deputy on scene, Christopher Griefenberger, began chasing after Miles in his car.

A few miles up the road in Hernando County, Miles was traveling at 55 miles per hour through the intersection of US 19 and County Line Road -- which had a red light -- and hit motorcyclist Henry McCain.  The 66-year-old died on scene.

Miles was caught a mile down the road due to two flat tires and a blown radiator, and yet she still managed to run a short distance before deputies finally caught up to her.

Miles, who worked at the Brass Flamingo gentleman's club, had a long history of arrests before her deadly chase with deputies.
