Gulfport, Florida -- Gulfport Police say a firearm was found on the campus of Boca Ciega High School after an altercation was broken up between two students.
Gulfport Police say while the school resource officer was speaking with the two students involved in the fight, he obtained information that there may be a weapon in the vehicle of one of the students.
The officer got permission from a parent to search the vehicle in question and found the .380 semi automatic pistol in the trunk. It had one bullet in the chamber.
This firearm was reported stolen out of Clearwater and investigators with both agencies are cooperating in returning the firearm to the owner.
The student was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, which is a felony. It is unclear at this time if the student was involved in the theft of the firearm.
