St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Pete Police are investigating a carjacking and bank robbery in the area of 66th Street North Friday afternoon.

Officers say around 1:45 p.m., a man carjacked a woman in the Jo-Ann Fabrics parking lot at gunpoint, leaving her behind uninjured.

About 10 minutes later, the Wells Fargo Bank in the 3100 block of 66th Street North was robbed at gunpoint by the same suspect. He then left in the vehicle he allegedly carjacked minutes earlier.

The car was found abandoned a few blocks away from the bank. Detectives say it appears he was either picked up or had another vehicle waiting for him at that location.

He is described as a black male, late teens to early 20's, 6' to 6'3" tall, 220 pounds and was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a backpack.

As soon as 10 News receives the surveillance video and pictures in the bank robbery from police we will release them.
