Winter Haven, Florida -- UPDATE: Winter Haven Police officials say 19-year-old Erin Fitzgerald has been found safe in Winter Haven.

Initial reports said Fitzgerald left her home shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, when a friend woke up to find Fitzgerald bleeding from self-inflicted cuts.

Reports sent just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday credit "the rapid response of the media" and the "'sharing of information' on Facebook" with the success of the case.

"Thank you to all of our media partners and social media friends for their dedication and the timely response in reporting the missing person," said Chief Gary Hester.
