Thonotosassa, FL- Two local families are homeless after a duplex fire, Hillsborough Fire Rescue crews said Tuesday evening.

According to their report, the fire took place off the 9300 block of Greystone Rd. at a duplex occupied by two families- five adults and one child.

One resident called 911 after he heard the smoke alarm going off next door, and could not reach his neighbor by phone. 

Reports said all of the occupants were out safely before the arrival of the first engine crew, and that firefighters tackled the flames from inside the home without any injuries. 

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has contacted Red Cross and they are en route to assist the families with shelter, clothing, and food.  

An investigator is currently working on scene to determine the origin of the fire.
