Tampa, Florida-- A Tampa woman is behind bars after authorities say she left her dogs in dire conditions.
34-year old Regena Lewis was arrested Monday afternoon on animal cruelty and improper confinement charges.
According to Hillsborough County Animal Services, Lewis left a mother and her six puppies inside of a small kennel with no food or water, standing in their own feces and urine.
Authorities say the oldest dog developed burns on her paws and one puppy had a collar embedded into its neck causing "unnecessary pain and suffering."
Officials says each of the dogs will stay with Animal Services until they are all healthy, then will be put up for adoption.
