Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The city is working up specifications for a boardwalk to be built along Clearwater Harbor from a public plaza on Memorial Causeway to the foot of Baymont Street.
The Marina Boardwalk District will be part of the Beach By Design Plan, covering design and construction of the boardwalk on private property, in addition to public entrances at Papaya and Baymont streets, as well as a public plaza next to the public parking lot north of the Memorial Causeway.
"Where feasible, the boardwalk should be constructed completely over the water rather than on uplands," the design report stated. "Exceptions may be granted on properties adjacent to the public entrances at Papaya and Baymont streets, or when a hardship prevents construction over the water."
The specifications will include sidewalk requirements, benches, lighting, location and type of trash receptacles, bicycle racks, water fountains, landscaping and even boat dock transitions.
