Tampa, Florida -- A Hillsborough County K9 gets an official congratulations after five years of service.
K9 Chino joined the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in 2008 and worked countywide in fugitive apprehension and bomb detection. The 7-year-old German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix retired on July 26, but had an official retirement ceremony at the county commissioners meeting on Wednesday, August 21.
In his next to last day on duty, Chino proved he was a "top dog" when he helped capture a murder suspect who led law enforcement on a car chase into Pasco County. Chino leaped into the suspect's vehicle and pinned the suspect down, allowing law enforcement to take the man into custody.
K9 Chino worked for five years at the sheriff's office with his partner Deputy Jason Allen.
