Lakeland, Florida -- A precautionary boil water notice has been issued in the Kathleen area within the Northwest Region Public Water System.
Polk County Utilities issued the notice after a water main broke resulting in a loss of pressure for customers.
As a precaution, the County is advising that all water users drink bottled water and/or boil water to a rolling boil for at least one minute for cooking and drinking.
This notice will remain in effect until ongoing water sampling analysis completed. Polk County Utilities will issue notice rescinding this precautionary measure once satisfactory results have been confirmed (normally after 48 hours).
As a further precaution, the water lines in this area have been flushed.
