Palm Harbor, Florida -- You would think that a firefighter's toughest battle would be fighting a fire. But after a Tampa fire captain lost his life to melanoma, firefighters are stepping up to get checked out.
Palm Harbor Dermatology's Captain Billek Foundation held their second annual screen event allowing active and retired firefighters, along with their families, to get free screenings for the deadly form of skin cancer.
Joe Billek had a tiny mole on his back before melanoma spread though his body.
Experts say everyone has to be vigilant looking for any moles or skin colorations that keep changing color or doesn't have a border.
