Clearwater, Florida - A recitation of the February 2011 crime was part of Judge Thane Covert's decision and Amanda Crawford closed her eyes as she once again heard the details of her father's murder.
"The defendant aimed the gun at the officer's stomach and fired every bullet," intoned Covert.

During last month's resentencing hearing, lawyers for Nicholas Lindsey argued that his age -- just 16 at the time of the crime -- made him a candidate for parole after 25 years. They said the teen was reckless, didn't understand the consequences of his actions and deserved a chance at rehabilitation.
But the judge also heard evidence that portrayed Lindsey, not as a child, but as a hardened criminal... that he was a car thief from age 11.
It took Covert more than an hour to read the rationale behind his decision, but the result of this second look was the same: Lindsey will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
"The defendant will never have freedom again and will die in prison," said the judge.

At that, a friend of Lindsey's family left the courtroom and could be heard wailing in the hallway. Later outside, Emprezz Queen said the Lindsey deserved a second chance.
"I can't believe the judicial system... not allowing him the possibility of parole," she said.
Lindsey's mother said she expected the decision and in response to a reporter's question about how she deals with such news Deneen Sweat replied, "I pray. I give it to God."
Afterwards, Amanda Crawford told reporters that "justice was served" and she noted that when he heard the judge's decision, Lindsey reacted with a smile.
"I'm glad it's over and it just proves to me he's an animal. He sat there smiling... smiling! I'm just glad it's done."
Lindsey was 16 when he shot and killed officer David Crawford, who had confronted the teen after reports of someone breaking into cars downtown. Lindsey shot Crawford five times with a gun he had bought for $140.
