Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Chief of Police Jane Castor ran in honor of fallen police officers early Saturday morning at the 19th Annual Tampa Police Memorial 5K/1-Mile Run-Walk.
The 5K run, one-mile walk started in downtown Tampa at 8 a.m. and traveled along Bayshore Boulevard.
Police Chief Jane Castor ran the event with a group of 30 officers. Each of the 31 officers ran in memory of one of the 31 individual fallen officers and wore a memorial armband imprinted with each fallen Tampa Police officer's name.
All the money raised goes to the Tampa Police Memorial Fund which benefits the Police Museum, Memorial Scholarship Program, charity donations and Tampa Police Memorial improvements.
