Lake Wales, Florida -- A baby just a little larger than a Big Mac entered the world a bit ahead of schedule on Monday, with the help of some fast food employees.
The Lakeland Ledger reports Joshua Murphy was born at the McDonald's at 416 W. Central Avenue in Lake Wales. 20-year-old Shardonnay Hill was only six or seven months pregnant when she went into labor. Joshua was only 2 and a half pounds at birth.
Hill was not feeling well when she and her great-grandmother stopped at the fast food restaurant. She was in the bathroom when she started to give birth.
The Ledger says McDonald's employees quickly gathered cardboard boxes to lay on the bathroom floor, with one employee delivering the baby while another spoke on the phone with a Polk County 911 dispatcher.
The tiny baby is currently in good condition at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, while the mother went to the Heart of Florida hospital as a precaution against infection.
