North Port, Florida - North Port City Commissioners voted 4-1 to take the next step in reopening Warm Mineral Springs.
City Commissioners agreed to hire a management company to temporarily run the springs while city and county leaders decide on a long-term plan to keep the springs open.
Warm Mineral Springs would reopen for swimming only, but city leaders say the process could take three to four months. The only warm mineral spring in Florida has been closed since July 1.
Sarasota County and the City of North Port bought Warm Mineral Springs in 2010 for $5.5 million.
