Riverview, Florida -- Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies shut down Symmes Road in both directions at Ivy Flower Loop in Riverview for several hours due to a deadly crash involving a car and a dump truck Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies say the two vehicles collided head on around 1:00 p.m. Stephanie Camille Drury, 28, reportedly drove her 1990, 4-door Oldsmobile left of the double yellow line, causing the dump truck to strike the sedan on the driver's side.
Drury was pronounced at the scene. Her two children, a baby just five days old, and a three-year-old toddler, were taken to Tampa General Hospital for observation, though officials say they did not have any visible injuries. The baby remained under observation Tuesday night.
James Artice McCarty was behind the wheel of the dump truck, and was reportedly taken to BCH with minor injuries.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported the roads were still closed after 8 p.m. as crews worked to clean a diesel fuel spill caused by the crash.
