Barricaded gunman surrenders in Spring Hill

Spring Hill, Florida -- A barricaded gunman surrendered peacefully late Wednesday night after five hours of negotiation with Hernando County deputies.

Mark Anthony Rattenni, 41, left the residence in the Berkeley Manor subdivision and was taken into custody by the sheriff's SWAT Team.

Earlier, deputies have removed one person from the residence.

Deputies were trying to serve two failure to appear warrants about 3 p.m. on Rattenni when he walked out and confronted deputies with a handgun. Deputies quickly took up tactical positions and requested back-up.

Rattenni's parents were inside the home at the start of the standoff, and his father left when directed by deputies but his mother remained inside for several hours, the sheriff said.

Neighbors in the immediate vicinity were requested to evacuate their homes or to find safe shelter.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office Crisis Response Team and SWAT team are both on scene.
