Venice Beach, Florida -- Search and rescue crews from Coast Guard have suspended the search for the boaters who issued a mayday call just after 8 p.m. Thursday.
Multiple Coast Guard rescue crews searched for the female and male callers who requested help over the radio before losing communications with the Coast Guard watchstanders approximately 17 miles off of Venice Beach. But crews were unable to locate any evidence of the missing boat or the boaters in that area.
Anyone with any information on the possible source of the mayday call is asked to contact Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg command center at 727-824-7506.
