LAKELAND, Fla. -- Lakeland Police have arrested two people suspected of separate vehicle burglaries.
Police arrested 17-year-old Ashley Walker after she crashed a stolen 1999 Dodge Durango while attempting to flee the scene of the crime. A relative of the victims was able to make contact with Walker and hold her until police arrived.
Walker was arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle and burglary to a motor vehicle. She sustained only minor injuries in the crash.
The investigation into Walker's case led police to the suspect of another vehicle burglary that occured on January 30. The owner of a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup, William Walker, reported seeing two while males fleeing from the vehicle after its alarm went off.
Walker found that a .45 caliber handgun had been stolen from the truck. It was recovered in the home of 18-year-old Wesley Whitmore. Whitmore was arrested for armed burglary to a motor vehicle and grand theft.
