CLEARWATER, Florida - More than a year after 10 News first exposed an accused scammer's long list of victims, deputies have arrested the man on felony charges he conducted an elaborate scheme to bilk homeowners of their money.

Martin Barrett, 42, was booked Saturday morning by Pinellas County deputies on an outstanding warrant from Pasco County.

Barrett and his "Big Boy Evictions" company were paid by property owners - often $500 to $1,000 at a time - to file eviction paperwork for them.  But accusers say the papers were never filed and Barrett pocketed the money.

Free on bond, Barrett was contacted by the 10 News Investigators by phone Monday and admitted to owing some of his former customers.  He said he had business problems and has returned several thousand dollars to some of the 11 victims he knew of.  But denied any intent to defraud.

Barrett said he was working toward returning another $3,000 in restitution to the remaining victims.

Pasco County has so far identified two victims while Pinellas County identified approximately eight.  Other victims say there may be more who have yet to come forward, as well as some possibly in Hillsborough County.
