Wimauma, Florida -- Deputies found a man, wanted in connection with a Tampa murder, in Ocala while taking a bus to Mexico.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Candelario Herrera-Vazquez, of Tampa, fought with his roommate on Saturday, July 21 around 2 a.m.

Nine hours later, detectives were called out to the apartment, after one of the five people who lives there, found the man's body in a locked bedroom when he didn't open the door.

Investigators say the man suffered trauma to his upper body.

During the course of the investigation, detectives say they learned that Vazquez left Tampa and went to Sarasota County where he dumped a machete they believe was the murder weapon in a public trash can.

Investigators say Vazquez then purchased a bus ticket to Mexico and boarded a bus in Wimauma with one stop in Ocala. On July 22, the Marion County Sheriff's Office was contacted and dispatched deputies to pick up Vazquez who detained him until Hillsborough detectives could arrive in Ocala.

He has been charged with First Degree Murder.
