Titusville, FL (Florida Today) -- At about 10:30 on the night of December 11, a taxi pulled up outside Benjamin Wojenski's home on Cherrywood Lane in Titusville.
A female passenger used the driver's phone to call Wojenski, who came to the door and let the 24-year-old woman inside.
Less than eight hours later, police and fire crews found the 62-year-old man
dead in the dining room, covered in a sheet. He had stab wounds to his
face, head and neck, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed by
Titusville police. There was blood on the walls, in his shower and
garage, and bloody handprints in his bedroom.
Police had
been called to the home by a concerned neighbor. Despite the gruesome
scene, they discovered Wojenski's white Corvette, a big-screen TV,
laptop and cellphone were gone.
The car was found a day
later in Flagler County, and the driver -- identified by police as Amanda
Blair -- was arrested on a driving charge. She was later charged by
Titusville police with second-degree murder and grand theft.
Police
"learned from a neighborhood (canvas) that Benjamin Wojenski had been
contacting various prostitutes electronically through the use of a
computer and also by telephone on a regular basis," the warrant
affidavit reads.
Titusville police interviewed Blair at a jail in Flagler County after her arrest. The affidavit says her left hand was bandaged.
"Blair
also admitted to knowing Wojenski and said that she 'tricked' with
him," the affidavit reads. "Blair then said that Wojenski tried to
'rape' her and said that she 'did drugs' and was afraid that no would
believe her."
Blair was returned to Brevard County for
prosecution this week. She is being held in Brevard County jail on no
bond, meaning she cannot be released, and is scheduled to appear in
court for arraignment next month.
