Wimauma, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help with information on a fatal hit and run on U.S. Hwy 301 back in November 2012.
In the early morning hours of Nov. 4, 2012, troopers say the unknown vehicle was heading north on U.S. Hwy 301 while Alexander Klim's Acura Integra was heading south.
Reports are the road was dark and covered in heavy fog which reduced visibility significantly. As the two vehicles passed each other, the unknown vehicle left its lane and traveled partially into the southbound lane where its left front side hit the left rear side of Klim's car.
After they collided, Klim lost control of his car and traveled across the northbound lane and onto the grass shoulder. Once on the shoulder, the car hit a fence and then a tree.
The unknown vehicle left the scene.
Twenty-two-year-old Miguel Colon, of Brandon, who was a passenger in Klim's car, sustained critical injuries and later died at Tampa General Hospital on Nov. 10, 2012. Klim, 20, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
To date, investigators say there isn't any information that exists on the vehicle that took off or the driver.
Anyone with information concerning this cold case is asked to contact the Corporal Cheshire of the Florida Highway Patrol by calling 813-631-4020.
