Suspect arrested in murder of pregnant woman

Bradenton, Florida -- Deputies have arrested a man for the murder of a pregnant woman Saturday at the Desoto Village Apartments.

Everrick Houston, 28, was charged with two counts of murder in the death of Crystal Johnson and her baby, who died after delivery at All Children's Hospital.

"Houston showed up at Manatee Memorial Hospital shortly after the shooting suffering from a gunshot wound," sheriff W. Brad Steuvbe said in a statement. "He remains at Manatee Memorial and will be transported to jail upon his release from the hospital."

Detectives said Houston was apparently shot by the victim's boyfriend, Lawrence Funsch. He told them he started firing when several men broke into their apartment and started shooting.

Investigators believe the incident was drug related. More arrests are expected.
