PALM BAY — A 60-year-old Brevard County science teacher arrested late Wednesday for what police said was a sexual relationship with a juvenile she met in a detention center, remains in jail on a $525,000 bond.

Palm Bay police are also trying to determine if there could be other victims – possibly students of the woman - in the case.

Adrienne Laflamme, of Palm Bay, was also placed on a suicide watch at the Brevard County Jail Complex in Sharpes and will go before a judge this afternoon for a first appearance.

The longtime Brevard public schools employee – just under two years from retirement - was charged by Palm Bay Police with 15 counts of unlawful sex with minors and one count of filing a false police report, records show.

“The mother of the victim called authorities,” said Yvonne Martinez, spokeswoman for the Palm Bay Police Department.

Palm Bay police said Laflamme met a 17-year-old inmate in April at the Juvenile Detention in Sharpes where she taught science.

“A couple of days after he had been released from custody, (Laflamme) went to his house and picked him up. She drove him to her home in Palm Bay and they had sex,” Martinez said this morning.

“The boy told us there was another teen involved in at least one of the sexual encounters. We haven’t identified that second boy at this time.”

The boy told detectives that the pair had sexual relations at least 15 times since his release in May. One of the encounters included participation from another boy, police reported.

The boy’s mother called authorities after growing suspicions about Laflamme and her willingness to share her car with the juvenile, Martinez said.

Police said Laflamme – who was on vacation when realized she was under investigation - then reported to police that her vehicle had been stolen.

Laflamme was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Brevard County Jail just after midnight.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 952-3456.
