Pinellas County, Florida -- Deputies are investigating a head-on crash in Clearwater.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. Deputy Guzman was on a routine patrol when he saw a 2012 Ford Fusion driving in a reckless manner. Deputy Guzman began to active a traffic stop when the car began to make a wide right turn on to Douglas Avenue from Overbrook Avenue driving into on-coming southbound traffic, hitting a pick-up truck head-on.
Both the driver and passenger of the Ford Fusion, exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Deputy Guzman began a foot pursuit and was able to catch the driver of the Fusion, 21-year-old Matthew J. Bunch.
Two passengers of the Chevy S-10 were transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Bunch was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but has since been released and taken to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.
Bunch was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury, Fleeing and Eluding, Trafficking in Hydromorphone and Resisting Arrest Without Violence.
The investigation continues.
