PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- The driver of a stolen vehicle that was involved in an early morning car crash on U.S. 19 in Tarpon Springs is at large after fleeing from the crash scene.
The collision occurred at 4:40 a.m. Monday when a speeding Toyota Camry ran a red light and crashed into a Ford Pickup truck at the Tarpon Avenue intersection. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Tarpon Springs Police, witnesses reported the driver of the stolen Camry was picked up by an unknown white vehicle and left the area. There may be more individuals than just the driver who was taken from the scene.
The stolen car involved in the collision was reported on November 11 out of St. Petersburg.
The crash shut down southbound US-19 for four hours. All lanes are currently open.
